Head of Region: Strategic Account Manager
Full time - Permanent
Cambridge International Examinations is part of the Cambridge Assessment Group, a department of the University of Cambridge. We prepare school students for life, helping them develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning through our educational programmes and qualifications which are taught in approximately 9,000 schools in 160 countries. We also work with over 20 Ministries and other governmental and non-governmental agencies on a range of activities including providing national qualifications and assessments, supporting localisation of qualifications and supporting national educational initiatives. We are increasingly involved in major education reform projects.
We are seeking a Head of Region to manage a team with project management, account management and client management responsibilities to provide the highest levels of service to large clients, including Ministries of Education, Examinations Authorities and NGOs. This is a Cambridge based post managing client services activities locally, but there will be some opportunity for travel. We work with colleagues who are based overseas and with partner organisations within the Cambridge family and beyond so good communication and stakeholder management are essential.
Your role will focus on managing your team to oversee the delivery of education services to existing clients, and nurturing these client relationships to develop opportunities for further work and new client contracts. You will be responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of a strategy for work in your region and working with others to deliver this. Your direct reports will manage day to day contact with clients and you will ensure the technical excellence, quality, and coherence of this service. Your understanding of the client’s education context and policy will be crucial in ensuring our services are relevant and beneficial, and enable you to act as a champion for the client within the organisation. Drawing on this knowledge, you will work with our business development unit in identifying and pursuing new client opportunities. As a member of the department management team you will also take responsibility for departmental improvement initiatives.
You will need to be comfortable communicating with stakeholders at the highest levels, and be skilled at influencing as you will be working with senior contacts within national governments and client organisations. Equally, your experience as a line manager will demonstrate the ability to create positive relationships, both externally and internally in an international, client facing environment. An understanding of education policy would be an advantage, but any experience in an environment influenced by policy (particularly in government or NGOs) would be of interest.
The closing date for applications is 26 March 2017.
